In circle we did a quick checkin so that we could work on our Halloween Slideshow. Students worked in Google slide to answer. After we started our Halloween slideshow we went for lunch. Kaashvi made some pictures for people. After lunch we went to Ms. O's class to make a magnetic puppet. In math we worked on number riddles.

Today at circle almost everybody was feeling well. Although some were tired. In gym we played netball. It was very fun. There were two teams and the sport coach's name was Lizzy. After we had time to exchange books. Mr. Bhachu tried to help everyone find a book that is perfect for them. Some students are choosing books that are too easy or too hard. Next we had music. When we came back we worked on Math till lunch. After lunch we read quietly and then worked in groups to read an article. We had to make connections to ideas in the reading. To finish the day we used to computers to record our reading in Raz Kids and to practice math in Prodigy.
Homework: Count the number of forks and spoons you have, which is more? Blog written by Mr. Bhachu and his tricky assistants. After sharing circle and Sam Yuk Gu, we played another math game. The teams were boys vs. girls.. This day we didn't have gym. Instead we will have netball tomorrow morning. They will be coming home shortly.
The Halloween Dance is tonight! It starts at 6:00 and ends at 8:00. You need to bring your tickets and parents. In circle we shared thank yous with each other. We played math games and then solved some problems that were told in stories. We read a story about Beekle who was an imaginary friend. Then we used computers and google docs to create a list of what we would do with Beekle. Then after recess we wrote stories about Our Day with Beekle. After lunch we read quietly and then we made new words for our Word Wall. To end the day we began Auction reflections. We wrote about how we helped the class when Ms. Sanders was here.

Many students easily thought of someone they wanted to thank and gave reasons around learnings. Next in Math, students had to figure out the equation that was in students' actions and Mr.. Bhachu's stories. It was fun. Also students from Social Action came to our classroom and played a bingo game with us. In gym we had stations. After we used computers for free time if our Iris work was done. In Language Arts we sorted words into green, orange and red based on given criteria. It was also fun.

In circle, we discussed and shared our thoughts on whether Calgary should vote yes or no for the 2026 Olympics. Most students are in favor of having the olympics. Some students wanted to ask their parents first before they make a decision. Students also learned what a secret ballot is. After we used computers to continue making videos of ourselves reading and sharing math addition strategies. Most are done and they can be viewed in Iris. All students should be able to log into Iris from home. After recess we continued with writing about the books we are reading in Reading Groups. After lunch we read quietly and then we used computers for Prodigy and Raz Kids. Some students were still trying to finish their videos. To end the day we had an assembly where grade 6 students lead a C day celebration.

We had a very quick circle today so we could write words for our word wall. When we finished we were allowed to get a computer. We started by practicing typing and then we recorded videos to communicate 3 ideas. First we talked about ourselves, next we read aloud and lastly, we showed how we solve addition problems. Not everyone is finished yet. Most students finished the first video. You can see them in Iris. After gym, we had Social Studies and we continued work on Alberta. After lunch we had quiet reading and reading groups. We had to do some writing about our books. After recess, we met our buddies and they taught us how to change a color from light to dark.

In circle, some people shared that they read the blog with their mom and dad. Then we discussed expectations for Book Exchange at the Learning Commons. After going to the Learning Commons we went to gym and then music. When we came back, we quickly had a snack and then went on computers to record our goals and strategies in Iris. We had special subway lunch in the classroom. After lunch we read quietly and had reading groups. We had new books and groups in reading groups. In Social Studies, we began exploring Alberta and what makes Alberta unique.
Homework: Ask your parents what they love most about Alberta. Discuss and ask them questions. Blog written by Mr. Bhachu and his stupendous students. Today in circle everyone was feeling good and spoke clearly. In math, we practiced counting by 5's and we reviewed even and odd numbers. Next we practiced typing on Dance Mat. Then we went back to math. We had to record 3 questions from Prodigy and answer them in our Math scribblers. We are getting better at comparing numbers. The last thing we did before recess was we were introduced to Iris. We shared about ourselves in Iris. We needed our username and password for Iris. We can do it at home too. After recess we read in reading groups. After lunch, we read quietly until gym. After gym we went to music. We had auction to finish the day. We have new jobs now. Students sometimes don't get jobs if too many people are bidding for the same job.

Students are feeling much more confident speaking to the whole class in circle. We started a new lesson in Social Studies about Canada. Students drew pictures, used words and symbols to describe "What Canada Looks Like". After we used computers to access Google Earth to learn more about How Canada Looks. Students drew a map in their V.J. of Canada. After lunch we read quietly until we started Auction reflections. Students were asked to make a list of things they have learned since last Auction. They also reflected on what they have improved at. We continued work on our Clay Portraits which made our hands dirty. Mixing clay to make skin color is not easy.
